The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 1974

I rented The Texas Chain Saw Massacre for New Years to ensure a good scare but really all I got was a bunch of teenagers being smacked around with a obviously ineffective Chainsaw – their wasn’t even any blood – I mean come on!

The so called “Movie that changed peoples lives” is nothing more than an over glorified piece of cinema trash, and as it has been said for much of its genre “it has more of  a bark then a bite”  but then again if you look back to 1974 it would have scared the pants of any cinema goer but sadly it has no such effect now days. For a movie thirty six years old to date it does have some good structural points but allot of the movie is wasted in long and if not over dramatic chase scenes. Though where TCM seems to lose some merits it regains in some of the bizarre scenarios that gives you the feeling that you won’t sleep quiet so happily, for example the dinner scene where sally is served as finger food to Leather Faces Grandad and then clonked on the head by the old bugger – I mean that plays hell on your brain! Some people think that less is more, and I am one of those people but I serisouley think that people should get a mental check if they think that it is “The Best Horror movie ever”.

Overall TCM isn’t bad for Tobe Hooper’s first go at the movie making bussiness and is definatly worth a watch but don’t be expect shock and Awe. Although it doesn’t have life changing efects on me I must say that for its age it has matured greatly and yes I will be delicate as to who I offened.
